The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (CVS&AH), Jalukie– the first professional college of Nagaland — celebrated its College and Sports Day on October 24.
College dean, Dr. Capt. G. Dhanan Jaya Rao, in a press release stated that Lt Gen Gopal, who was the chief guest, spoke about the importance of culture, tradition and conservation of fauna and flora. The students who have taken up the Veterinary Course should dedicate their services in rural areas such as Jalukie, he said. Lt Gen Gopal opined that if every house had one or two cows it would be useful to produce bio gas and the dependency on LPG could be reduced. He also exhorted the students to absorb knowledge and follow the age old traditional system of healing animals. He also inspired and motivated the students to join the Remount Veterinary Corps.
In a welcome address, Dr. Capt. G. D. Rao spoke about the genesis of the college and the unlimited support received from the state government of Nagaland, village leaders and villagers around the college for the institution’s smooth functioning.
Dr. Gunjan Das proposed the vote of thanks. Lt Gen. Gopal awarded the overall Best Trophy to 2016-17 B.V.Sc & AH batch.
