Kohima Food Safety Officer (FSO) and staff carried out inspection of bakeries in view of the Hornbill Festival and coming of festive season, on November 28.
A press release from chief medical officer & designated officer, Kohima, Dr. Ritu Thurr stated that during the inspection, some bakeries were found in unhygienic conditions, using ingredients which had exceeded the “best before” date, finished products stored in bedrooms, using newspapers in baking etc.
In this regard, an improvement notice under Section 32 of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 was served to the proprietors for compliance, the release stated.
