Ngada Mini Hornbill festival concludes

The Ngada Mini-Hornbill festival, which began on November 26, concluded at RSA ground, Tseminyu Old town on November 28, with advisor of Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, and advisor of IT, Science & Technology and NRE, Mhonlumo Kikon as Ngada guests.

A DIPR report stated that advisor for Vety & AH and Women Resources Development, R. Khing, while addressing the gathering as the Ngada Chief Host, welcomed the Ngada Guests to the celebrations and delivered Ngada greetings.

Khing also appreciated ADC Tseminyu, Nokchasashi Ao, convenor of the organizing committee and various responsible officials for the grand success of all the programs.

Dr. Neikiesalie Kire conveyed Ngada greetings to the Rengma people on behalf of government of Nagaland. He also expressed his appreciation for the celebrations as a festival of thanksgiving to God and forgiveness among the people to encourage oneness. 

He added that people should take celebrations meaningfully, so that there will be permanent unity and peace in society. Dr. Kire urged the people to maintain oneness as Christians among the community for their future betterment.

Also, speaking on the occasion, Mhonlumo Kikon stated that he was joyful on being invited as the Ngada Guest. He also delivered Ngada greetings to his neighbours — the Rengma community.

He spoke about unity among various communities, pointing out that they had forgiven and forgotten the olden life styles and were now living as one. Kikon, therefore, reminded the Rengmas to continue to maintain harmony and friendly living among neighouring communities so that all round developmental activities could be successfully implemented.

He also dwelt briefly on the roads being constructed in the state and appealed to affected land owners to cooperate with the government and contractors so that the ongoing road construction projects in the State may be completed sucessfully.

Highlights of the celebrations were folk songs and dances presented by Chogin Range, Lotha Cultural Club (Wokha town Phiro Cultural Club), Tseminyu Lowjvu, Kithagha group, and RPO Kohima. Rengma Baptist Church Kohima Youth Department presented a modern song. Words of greetings were delivered by the president of Rengma Officers’ Forum. 

Kenneth Kath delivered the welcome address of the program. Invocation prayer for the celebration program and vote of thanks were delivered by Rev. Fr GL Khing and John Wanth respectively. Thousands of Rengma men and womenfolk, NGO leaders from neighboring Lotha and Sema/Sumi communities and government officials attended the program. Chenonlo Woch, as chairperson, conducted the last day of the Ngada Mini Hornbill Festival program.

Twenty six standard Morung/stalls were constructed at the venue by villages of Tseminyu sub-division, out of which Teragonyu village’s Morung was judged the best Morung, and Phensunyu and Tseminyu villages won the second and third best Morungs.
