New PHC inauguration and golden jubilee in Yongnyah

 An inauguration program of a new building for Primary Health Centre (PHC) Yongnyah & the Golden Jubilee program of the Health Unit which was established in the year 1968, was held on October 27 at Yongnyah village. 

The special guest for the inaugural program was Chief Medical Officer, Longleng, Dr. Kongyan Phom. SDO (Civil), Robin was the special guest for the Golden Jubilee program. They inaugurated the new PHC building monolith and the Golden Jubilee monolith respectively.

Medical Officer, PHC Yongnyah, Dr. K Manen Phom, in his welcome address, stated that the new building was constructed in 2013 under NHM funding on land donated by the Ngonyen Clan of Yongjong and Oman Morung of Yongnyah village. 

Dr. Manen expressed his sincere gratitude to MLA, B Nganlang Phom for constructing the hospital approach road and the hospital compound. He also thanked Yongnyah Village Council for building the hospital kitchen and the external electrification, and EAC Yongnyah, Vitoka Yepthomi for constructing the hospital’s deep burial pit.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kongyan, in his speech, thanked the department of Health and Family Welfare for constructing a new building in a remote area for the welfare of the Yongnyah which consists of 11 villages. He lauded the former medical officers who worked and served their time in Yongnyah village.

Dr Kongyan also expressed special appreciation to the Yongnyah Council and MO, Dr. K. Manen Phom for their active participation and contribution and encouraged the PHC staff to be at station to deliver the best public service. He also requested the public and the neighboring villages to avail of the services provided by the PHC and extend their cooperation.

In the Golden Jubilee program, SDO Civil, Robin, thanked PHC Yongnyah and lauded the ingenuity of the pioneers and former medical officers and staff, adding that the celebration was proof of their hard work and contributions. He encouraged public to not think of the PHC as a government office but to take care of it as their personal property. Robin also acknowledged the hard work of the committee members. 

DVBO (NVBDCP) Longleng, Dr. Manyau Phom, who was the first medical officer of the newly upgraded PHC Yongnyah back in the year 1997, spoke about the difficulties he faced in the initial years with other fond memories.

Earlier in the program, a moment of silence was observed to honour deceased staff after which a special prayer for them was pronounced by catechist, Holy Cross Church, Peter Phonglang.

Short speeches were delivered by DTO Longleng, Dr Lanuchuba; Dr Imnameren Phom DPO (RCH/UIP), 1st employee of Yongnyah health unit, Shothai Phom; VC’s of Yongnyah, Tangha, Yongam, Nyang, Yongshei and Ngonyen Clan (Land donors). Yongnyah Hongnyu Students Union and NCRC Youth presented special numbers.

Chair persons for the program were ASHA coordinator, Yongnyah Block, Nungai and GNM Yongnyah, Mopen. The program was attended by CMO staff of Longleng, PHC Yongnyah staff, staff from Tamlu PHC, and well wishers from neighboring villages.
