A one-day training program on peace building and dialogue facilitation skill was organized by Pastors Fellowship Tseminyu along with Peace Channel on November 30.
A press release from Arhomo C. Ngullie of Peace Channel stated that PRO peace channel, Kishore Dass, in his keynote address, stressed on the need for a peace committee in the region adding that once they are trained for peace, they can prevent, intervene and build peace in the respective communities.
Director Peace Channel, Fr. Dr. CP Anto, who was the resource person, trained participates on dialogue and mediation and explained the importance of peace building and dialogue. He also appreciated the Pastors’ Council for the initiative and village leaders and women for their participation.
Fr. Dr. Anto further elaborated on the role of women in peace building, quoting the example of the Rwandan genocide in 1994 in which more than 8 to 10 lakhs people were killed in 80 days of war between Tutsis and Hutus. After the genocide, the women took the role in rebuilding Rwanda trough active peace building strategies. Today, Rwanda has the highest number of women parliamentarians, which was 67% in the initial stage and now declined to 53.2%.
Earlier, pastor Sonilo, Tseminyu Village Baptist Church, (TVBC), said the invocation for the program. Pastors Fellowship Tseminyu president, Rev Shukhi delived a welcome address; vote of thanks was proposed by program coordinator, Peace Channel, Chumdemo Odyuo; and the benediction was offered by Ao Baptist Church Pastor, Anung. Pastor of Tseminyu Town Baptist Church, (TTBC), Athonglo Khing chaired the session.
There were 42 participants belonging to different communities and churches. The participants decided to form a Peace Forum Tseminyu to prevent, intervene and promote peace among families and communities.
