ATMA Mon, Aboi block conducted a training and demonstration programme at Mohong Changai village on October 25.

A press release from ATMA Mon Aboi block stated that the resource person Taigin Konyak demonstrated Zero tillage method of planting peas. He encouraged the farmers to grow leguminous crops to increase the fertility of the soil. Farmers from Mohong Changai village including members from one SHG group were trained on the nursery bed preparation of tomato and cabbage. Altogether 16 farmers attended the program. Seeds were also distributed to the farmers.

A similar programme on the topic on “Production technology of knol khol” was conducted by ATMA Tuli block Mokokchung in Tuli on October 25.

Resource person ATM Tuli, Shilunokdang Jamir demonstrated the proper method for preparation of nursery beds. He also emphasized on the importance of proper soil preparation in the process of transplantation. Seeds of knol khol, pea and gram were distributed to the farmers.

Meanwhile, ATMA Zuhneboto, Akuhaito block also conducted training sessions and demonstrations on October 26 at Philimi and Rotomi villages.

A press release from ATMA Akuhaito block stated that a training program on “Commercial production of beans” was led by ATM, Kaiho Achumi. He said that beans was a multi-purpose crop which is grown for consumption, animal fodder or even for green manure and it also offers great health benefits. He also conducted a demonstration session on broccoli, how it is useful and important in human diet and poses great economic yield for any grower. BTM, Aolema discussed and demonstrated the cultivation practices of Brinjal. She stated that by growing and incorporating small self-kitchen garden one can be productive. She also highlighted some important disease and pest of brinjal and its control measures.
