Nagaland University (NU) and Oil India Limited sponsored a five-day national workshop on “Sequence Stratigraphy and Basin Analysis” that concluded in a valedictory function held at ladies common room of Nagaland University, Kohima campus, Meriema on November 30. The event was also supported by ONGC Ltd, DGM and Aimil Ltd.
A press release from coordinator and assistant professor department of Geology NU, Dr. S. K. Srivastava stated that Directorate of Geology and Mining, Government of Nagaland director, Wanthang was the special guest of the valedictory program. In his speech, Wanthang opined that such workshops were very significant in the present scenario. He also distributed the certificates to the participants.
Resource persons were from IITs, universities and Directorate General Hydrocarbons, government of India. Earlier, the program started with the university anthem sung by research scholars of the department. A report on the workshop was presented by coordinator, Dr. S.K. Srivastava. A short speech was delivered by Dr. Sandip Kumar Roy, one of the resource persons from the DGH; vote of thanks was proposed by assistant professor in the department, Dr. Vikoleno Rino. Singing of the National Anthem marked the end of the program. The workshop was attended by scientists, assistant professors and research scholars from all over the country.
