The attestation parade ceremony of the VIII batch Condensed Basic Course for Assistant Commandants (ACs) and Junior Commission Officers (JCOs) of Nagaland Village Guards (NVG) was held on Friday at NAP Training Complex Centre Quarter Guard, Chumukedima, on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony as special guest, advisor Fisheries, Evaluation and Economic & Statistics, L. Khumo lauded the NAP officials for their selfless sacrifices by extending the training period so as to skill the trainees better. He called upon the newly trained officers to never forget the pledge they took on completion of their course. He reminded them that as uniformed personnel, they should offer respect to their seniors and officers until their last breath.
He maintained that unlike other civil services, the military calling was one in which people should be reluctant to give up their job, discipline, weapons and uniforms even after retirement. He urged them to perform their duties and render their selfless services to uplift their state and country. He also called upon the trained cadres to work hand in hand in conjunction with the administration, police and others in their respective areas.
Presenting a brief report of the training, commandant NAPTC, Ben Longkumer informed the gathering that out of the 11 candidates, nine trainees had successfully passed the course and two other candidates failed to make it. He stated that out of the nine passed out candidates, three were assistant commandants and six were junior commission officers. Longkumer reported that the normal training period of three months was enhanced to four months with due permission from PHQ. While congratulating the successful candidates, he said that passing out was just the beginning because years of service were ahead of them. He also urged them to execute their responsibilities and duties with excellence, professionalism and selfless devotion as a part of the Nagaland Village Guards.
During the ceremony, awards were given to trainees for various achievements. The award for being the best in Physical Training (PT) was bagged by assistant commandant, S. Yamso Khiamniungan from Meluri unit; best in drill by assistant commandant, L K Heno Khiamniungan from Tuensang HQ; best in BPET by subedar, James from Kiphire district; best in written test by assistant commandant, S Yamso Khiamniungan from Meluri unit; best in weapon handling by assistant commandant, LK Heno Khiamniugan from Tuensang HQ; best in firing by assistant commandant, S Yamso Khiamniugan from Meluri unit; best in endurance by subedar, James from Kiphire district; and the all round best was bagged by assistant commandant, S Yamso Khiamniungan from Meluri unit.
Earlier, the special guest presented trophies and certificates to the winners. The program was chaired by ABI, N. Mhabemo Lotha, parade review was done by DIG (Trg & Bdr), Aotemsu, while an oath was administered by commandant NAPTC, Ben Longkumer.
