An All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet will begin under the theme “Invigorating young talents”, from November 13-17, hosted by Dimapur Government College. Minister, Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along will be the chief host of the event. This was announced in a press conference by vice president ANCSU, Benjong Longchar, held at ANCSU office Naga Club building on Friday evening which was also attended by general secretary, Vimeyiekho Vitso and others.
Longchar said the meet was expecting around 1500 delegates from 41 ANCSU affiliated colleges with 40 delegates from each college. Longchar added that this event was purely to promote sports and the talents of young people which, he said were a part and parcel of education.
ANCSU appealed to the state government to also promote a common platform for college students of the state. The ANCSU members also stated that besides the usual games for both men and women, this year they had introduced new events like badminton and a Miss ANCSU contest with the aim to promote the rich traditional culture and customs.
A host of dignitaries will grace the occasion, among whom will include minister PWD, Tongpang Ozukum as special guest of the inaugural function, and ADCP Crime Dimapur, Relo T Aye as the special invitee to the introductory session. Advisor Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire will be the special invitee to the beat contest and advisor Youth Resources & Sports, Er. Zale Neikha, will grace the valedictory function as special invitee.
ANCSU has also asked colleges to clear their entry fees on or before November 5. It expressed special gratitude to host college Dimapur Government College and appealed to the various college principals to extend their cooperation towards this meet.
