The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in collaboration with Nagaland Centre for Human Development-Information Technology (NCHD-IT), conducted a two-day training program on packing and practices of black pepper cultivation for Joint Liability Groups (JLG) at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire on December 6 and 7 with Livika from Spice Board of India as the resource person.
A press release from NABARD stated that Imsunaro, Block Development Manager (BDM) and Yashimenla Lemtor executive director NCHD-IT were present during the training. Altogether 30 farmers from six villages attended the training and committed to start cultivating from 2019 onwards. The NSCB Kiphire Branch promised all possible help to the farmers. The release pointed out that the present market rate for Black Pepper is Rs. 600 per kg and when it is polished, it becomes white pepper and its price increases to Rs.2000 per kg. One plant costs Rs.30.
