Zeme Youth Organization Nagaland (ZYON) held its general meeting at Baudi hall, Jalukie town on December 6, with participation from all Zeme villages under Peren district along with its representatives divided into four zones Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Zemes.
A press release from ZYON general secretary, Rampau Haining Zeliang stated that Dr. Tumda Newme, president Zeme Council Nagaland exhorted the gathering. Dr. Tumda in his speech encouraged youth to build an incorruptible society free from “ism and hatred”. He highlighted the history of Zemes and their contribution towards Naga society and struggles.
Speeches on behalf of different ranges were delivered by representatives from Northern Zeme Youth Organization, Nsong-Kebai area, Beisumpui area, Peren & Mbaunlwa area, Hill Sector & Jalukie Valley.
The meeting was chaired by Ngauloibe John, president Zeme Council Dimapur, where Achobe Chuilo invoked God’s blessing. R John Zeliang, president (ZYON) highlighted shortcomings in society and urged youth to work for unity and development of Zemes in particular and Nagas in general. Rampau Haining Zeliang gave a vote of thanks.
ZYON also elected its new executive team led by R John Zeliang as president and Rampau Haining Zeliang as general secretary. Ahoi, deacon, Local Baptist Church Jalukie town blessed the new team.
