Chümoukedima Area GBs’ Union (CAGBU) has appreciated the pace at which work for improvement of the Dimapur city portion of NH-39 from Purana Bazaar to Chathe bridge was being carried out.
According to CAGBU, this portion of the Highway is vital and indispensable for development of the area and needs to be taken up on priority basis.
In a statement issued by its president Tokishe Achumi, vice-president LP Therie and general secretary Atso Gwizan, the union admitted that people, commuters in particular, were facing inconveniences due to dust and bumpy roads and that this was an inevitable part of the development process. It, however, urged the contractors to ensure that water was sprayed at regular intervals to minimise the dust, while requesting the public to patiently bear with it.
The union further urged the contractors to strictly comply with the specifications of the width and thickness of the road, even as it requested the public to clear their properties that fall inside the proposed expansion of the road.
Mentioning that these inconveniences could be solved with early completion of the works and for which public support and cooperation were a must, the union assured its full support to the ongoing work. It also appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the government to ensure timely completion of the project.
Once again urging all village councils along NH-39 to provide assistance in the project so that the work progressed unhindered, CAGBU also appealed to the government to execute the project earnestly and ensure that it was completed in time, besides ensuring quality workmanship.
