Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) has appealed to PWD, Road & Bridges (R&B) department to expedite construction of a bridge between Langzanger and Thsingar villages in Kiphire district. This is the bridge to connect Sitimi and Seyochung areas.
SASU president Chumseli K and general secretary Holise Sangtam, in a press release, made this appeal to the R&B department by stating that the bridge was the only lifeline for Thsingar village connecting it to Kiphire district headquarters.
SASU further pointed out that a makeshift wooden bridge was the only thing keeping the road functional right now and that it was uncertain how long this would last.
According to the students’ body, its team visited Thsingar and interacted with the villagers there. It was learnt that the government had taken up construction of the road five years back. However, as there was no bridge, the villagers had to take the initiative and constructed one with wood for light vehicles. The wooden bridge poses a problem while transporting the sick to hospitals, SASU added.
Under these circumstances, the union urged the authority concerned to construct the bridge between Langzanger and Thsingar for welfare of the public.
