With monsoon showers intensifying across Nagaland, Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima, Polan John, has issued a public advisory urging residents to exercise caution as heavy rainfall and thunderstorms loom over the region.
As low-lying areas and foothill regions in Chumoukedima are at risk of flash floods, waterlogging, and landslides, officials have been asked to take preventive measures to ensure public safety.
Authorities, including administrative officers, HoDs, ward leaders, and VDMA chairpersons, have been directed to stay vigilant and implement necessary precautions.
Residents have been advised to avoid landslide-prone areas and refrain from water-related activities that could pose safety risks. They are also encouraged to stay informed through official weather alerts, travel cautiously, and ensure the well-being of elderly individuals, children, and others requiring assistance.
The advisory also warned against ignoring weather warnings or engaging in unnecessary travel, particularly at night. Residents should rely only on official sources for updates, avoid spreading misinformation, and refrain from touching fallen power lines or entering flooded areas.
