173 CRPF Bn conducts ‘Civic Action Programme’

173 Battalion CRPF, Airfield Dimapur conducted a “Civic Action Programme” on December 19 under the aegis of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Manipur and Nagaland sector, Sh. Rajesh Kumar. Competitive examination books were distributed to needy students by Deputy Inspector General, CRPF at 173 Battalion Headquater, Dimapur, Sh. Sarbjit Singh. 

A press release from commandant 173 Bn CRPF Airfield Dimapur stated that  speaking on the occasion the chief guest, DIGP (Ops) Kohima, Sarbjit Singh, encouraged the youth to take part in building the nation by enrolling themselves as a force member in service to the nation. He also spoke on the rich and diverse culture and chivalry of the Nagas.

The Battalion has been entrusted to initiate and mobilize the youth for enrolment through print and electronic media by assisting them through on-line registration of forms. 598 youth (male-496 and female-102) were successfully registered by the unit. The registered candidates were given free Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruitment coaching classes and Physical Endurance Test (PET) both morning and evening since September 3, by trained staffs of the unit. These are done to help the candidates to be aware and adapt to the examinations/test they will be undergoing. The battalion initiated the programme to assist the needy unemployed youths of Nagaland a platform in armed forces as well prepare them for job opportunities in various organizations.

The programme was also attended by commandant 173 battalion, Joseph Keishing, along with officers and men of the unit apart from that prominent people of the areas including media, NGOs. The students expressed their gratitude for providing the study materials/aids and guidance to the unit for endearing effort in preparing them for the said examination.
