Around one thousand people attended the funeral service of late Kevi Zakiesato on Wednesday as tributes also poured in from various quarters. The funeral was scheduled for 2:30 as reported in local dailies but was delayed by about an hour as the family awaited the arrival of his son Kevilhulie who had to fly from Portugal to New Delhi and then to Dimapur.
Short speeches were delivered Khonoma Rufuno, Dimapur; Chakhro Angami Kuda Union, Dimapur; Tenyimia Union, Dimapur; Public Action Committee; Kuhoi Zhimomi on behalf of Dimapur Town Committee; principal secretary and finance commissioner, H K Khulu; G K Rengma; president, Muslim Council; president DCC (I), PB Sharma on behalf of the colony and council; and family members.
Political leaders who attended the funeral included advisor for power, Tovihoto Ayemi, I Imkong, SI Jamir amongst many other dignitaries.
It may be recalled here that Late Kevi Zakeisato was the current chairman of ward 2 council, Dimapur and a member of Dimapur Town Committee from 1988 to 1993 and from 1994 to 2001.
As a veteran Congress member for more than two decades, he served as president of DCC (I) Dimapur district from 1992 to 2000, general secretary of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, former member of All India Congress Committee (AICC), and also contested the Assembly election in 2003.
