
Fakim Village Students’ Union (FVSU) is celebrating its Silver Jubilee from December 27 to 29 under the theme “Envisioning the future of education and social transformation”, at Jubilee Hall, Fakim Village.
FVSU president, Tsuseki, in a press release stated that Yimchungru Akheru Arihako (YAA) president, S. Yansomong Yimchunger was the guest of honour at the inaugural event who inaugurated the jubilee program and later unveiled the Jubilee Monolith.
In his address, the YAA president exhorted the student community saying that as custodians of the Yimchungru student community, YAA was persuing the right to quality education in earnest. Thus, education, in all its facets, is an issue that lies close to the heart, he added. Yansomong also stated that for social transformation, education should be a means to restructure all areas of life; from the cultural to social relations; from politics to economy; from the way people think to the way they live.
JSCO, Tsuamki L. Yimchunger and pastor FBC, Ningtsukiu, are the planned speakers for the event.
The inaugural program was co-hosted by Francis and Hanjila. God’s blessing was invoked by Kithong, pastor Sangtsonger village. Tsuseki, president FVSU also gave a welcome speech; and Thanamir Village Students’ Union presented a special song. Short speeches were also delivered by Phenonglam, Hd. GB Fakim village and T. Yotsulam, history convener FVSU. The three day jubilee event will culminate on December 29.
