Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) in Nagaland has crossed 97% coverage as on November 20, 2018 with a total of 4,35,346 children successfully vaccinated with the MR vaccine through various school and outreach sessions.
The health and family welfare (H&FW) department, which is carrying out vaccination of children at all health facilities continuously, has expressed hope that 100% coverage would be achieved by the end of the extended campaign.
A review meeting held with all DIOs of 11 districts on November 21, 2018 in Kohima gave due credit was given to the administration, education, social welfare and all other departments for their continued support and involvement.
The meeting also acknowledged all NGOs, partner organisations and especially the front-line health workers for tirelessly working in the field to ensure all deserving children between 9 months and 15 years were vaccinated. The department has urged the few remaining resistant families/villages especially in Phek and Zunheboto, where district MR coverage was still at 89% and 93% respectively, to proceed to the nearest health facility for vaccination at the earliest.
