
The Jubilee celebrations of Yonchucho Students’ Union, Satakhami Union Dimapur and Ikiye Village Union Zunheboto were organized recently. Following are reports from the events.
YSU celebrates Golden Jubilee: C. Peter Yanthan, additional director, department of agriculture, graced the Yonchucho Students’ Union (YSU) Golden Jubilee celebrations on December 29 where he also unveiled the Jubilee Monolith. The celebrations were held from December 28 to 29.
Speaking on December 29 as the special guest, Yanthan stated that knowledge has no end, as education is a life-long process that ends only in the grave.
He urged the young students to work hard and acquire more knowledge and make knowledge a tool for the community’s progress because, he said, once gained, knowledge is never lost or stolen.
“We cannot compromise our future if the students of present generation are not dedicated and walk in the right direction” he asserted while stating that students were the pillars of the future generations.
He also encouraged students to be torch bearers who illuminate the dark to light the way to the future.
Dr. Longshibemo Yanthan, speaking on the theme “Expand your horizon”, said that the celebration highlights the past glory of student leaders who had a vision for the future community. He encouraged the gathering to expand their vision through inspiration with a positive attitude and seeing things from every perspective stating that “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
On the educational front, Dr. Yanthan said that students need to rededicate themselves to their studies and commit themselves to the area of learning stating that “people without vision will perish.”
He also spoke against the menace of the lives of youth and students: alcohol and drugs. He stated that they not only spoil lives but bring unrest to the family and society. The students were asked to set goals and pursue them with determination and to not be strayed. The monolith stone was dedicated by O Thungben Kikon, pastor Wokha Village Baptist Church.
Earlier, a message of greetings was delivered by Lipemo M Tsopoe president LSU. The program was chaired by Thungbeni Kikon, cultural secretary LSU. (Correspondent)
SUD celebrates Silver Jubilee: Satakhami Union Dimapur (SUD) celebrated its Silver Jubilee at Agri Expo, Dimapur with T Kiheto Sema, IAS (Rtd) as special guest on December 29.
A press release issued by SUD general secretary, Kahoto K. Zhimomi stated that the special guest urged Satakhamis to relive the past glories of Satakha and also stated that they were second to none during the bygone days.
He also recalled that Satakhami has produced many Sumis writers. “Sumis, as a tribe has lost many opportunities in the past due to division among the tribe”, he asserted. He also stated that Satakhami were torch-bearers of the Naga national movement. Cultural items including aphilo kuwo were performed by Shoixe village, Thighale performed by Shoipu village and Lejole sung by Ghukiye village. Kivikhu village presented a “Jubilee Song” and Vioto N Shohe presented a special song. The program was chaired by T Victo Zhimo, chairman, planning committee. Nivukhu Zhimo, pastor, Chekiye Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings, Rev.Vikheshe Chishi, principal, Withee Bible College said the benediction and Rev. Dr. Kavito Zhimo, principal of TTC, pronounced the jubilee blessings. Rev. Luhevi Zhimo, pastor, Nihokhu Baptist Church blessed the new incoming office bearers. Around 1000 Satakhamis in and around Dimapur attended the event.
IVUZ celebrates Silver Jubilee: Ikiye Village Union Zunheboto (IVUZ) celebrated its Silver Jubilee on January 1, at D.C Hill Colony Zunheboto.
A press release from IVUZ silver jubilee media and publicity in-charge, Vitoka K Aye stated that the jubilee began with a prayer by Tokali Chophy.
Delivering the note of celebration, Ikiye village head GB Kakheto Aye stated that IVUZ was established in the year 1994 with seven households during the initial formation with its prime objective to unify bona fide members of Ikiye village at Head quarter Zunheboto and to bring prosperity and safeguard its citizens.
He also disclosed that at present there were twenty eight households of Ikiye Village stationed in Zunheboto. He further said that through the prayer support of members of Zunheboto and Ikiye Village, the union had been richly blessed by Almighty God and had produce many educated and qualified people in various fields. He urged the gathering to live in faith with God and extended his best wishes for the union to reach its Golden Jubilee in the year 2044.
During the jubilee celebration, ex-women leader Vizheli Achumi delivered a message of God, where she urged the gathering that forgiveness and accepting weakness of others through Christian principals should be their duty. Quoting from the book of Galatians (5:1), she said that a jubilee signifies the purest of the pure of celebration — a year of blessings for the generation. She thereby said that everyone must accept Christ and live exemplary lives.
On the occasion, a Jubilee special song was presented by Ghoshini Zhimo and friends. The program was chaired by Shivito Chophy, chairman and Shikaho H Achumi, secretary of the Jubilee Planning Committee. Avishe Ayemi announced the host for the 2020 New Year Celebrations, which was followed by a mass benediction and Jubilee feast.
