A one day international workshop on the theme, “A question of ownership” was organised by Phek Government College (PGC) in partnership with Barkweaver Publications, Norway, on November 21 at the PGC Amphitheatre.
A press release by PGC media cell stated that the resource person, Dr. Easterine Kire, renowned author and poet, acquainted the gathering with the importance of collecting information about the rich heritage, culture and customs from native scholars and their works rather than referring to books by foreign authors.
Expressing concern over Nagas forgetting their native language, Dr. Easterine lamented that the younger generation was letting “Nagamese” and other languages seep into their daily lives and letting these replace their native languages.
Earlier, PGC principal, Dr. Vizovol Mekro, delivered the keynote address and welcomed the resource person and assistant professor, Dr. I Koktiba Sangtam, department of political science, and convenor of research and seminar committee, gave the vote of thanks.
The workshop was chaired by assistant professor, Dr. Atoholi, department of chemistry. Other highlights of the workshop included cultural shows by the students.
