An awareness campaign on Protection and Conservation of Nature, Forest and Wildlife was jointly organised by Nagaland Forest department and Olympic Higher Secondary School (OHSS) in Zunheboto with participation of officials from district administration, police, forest department, principal, teachers and around 300 students from OHSS on November 17.
A press release from chief wildlife warden, Dimapur, Satya Prakash Tripathi stated that deputy commissioner, Zunheboto spoke on the issue of sustainable development and encouraged students to educate others about conservation of nature, forest and wildlife. Uniel Kichu, superintendent of Police, Zunheboto spoke on the issue of degradation of natural resources and lamented that rich natural resources inherited from the forefathers were diminishing.
Satya Prakash Tripathi, in his key note address exhorted the students to be brand ambassadors for forest and wildlife conservation. A film on “Nagaland is Changing, but…” was also shown to the students.
The program supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi was chaired by Vinoto Yepthomi, headmaster OHSS, invocation prayer was offered by Avili Yeptho, teacher, and vote of thanks by the chairperson.
