
Jacob Zhimomi, minister of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), said that collective effort of all the people was needed for growth of society, while he also added that educated youth play pivotal roles in this growth.
A press release from Aqahuto Area Students’ Union (AASU) media cell stated that, Jacob said this while addressing a gathering of students at the 39th General Conference of AASU at Shokhuvi village, in which he was the special guest on January 5.
Hoisting the union flag to mark commencement of the conference, Jacob questioned where the youth stood in context of Naga society and challenged them to be disciplined, humble and pursue their goals.
He asserted that it was an era of youth empowerment, where youth are leading the world in every field.
Encouraging the students to opt for job oriented technical subjects and take up professional courses to be able to fit-in in this competitive world, he also urged parents to continually encourage and teach their children to be hardworking. Such values will motivate students to become self-sufficient, self-dependent and not becoming a liability for anyone, he added.
Jacob also encouraged the students to uphold moral values of life and further promised that he would take up the matters in the memorandums presented to him positively. He also sought cooperation of the people to bring all round development.
President of Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU), Kakiho Awomi who was also present on occasion along with his colleagues, also exhorted the students.
H. Benrimong, SDO Civil, Dhansiripar subdivision, spoke in the afternoon session.
More than 600 students representing 16 units of the area are attending the conference.
