
The first monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting of Dimapur district for the year 2019 was held in the DC’s Conference Hall Dimapur on January 7.
According to a DIPR report, initiating the meeting, DC Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel welcomed the members and also conveyed New Year wishes to them. Moatoshi, MLA Dimapur II, who was also present in the meeting, extended New Year wishes to all the members. He exhorted the officers under Dimapur district to join hands and work for the betterment of Dimapur city. Towards this end, he suggested that the DPDB members initiate a tree plantation drive in Dimapur stating, “bring change in Dimapur because it is our city.”
He also advised the board members to review the activities of societies before recommending their registration to higher authorities. Taking note of the MLA’s tree plantation suggestion, the DC decided that a committee would be constituted to tie up with line departments adding that the drive’s actual execution will be discussed in the next DPDB meeting.
The board members also recommended the proposal for upgrade of Government High School at Thahekhu to a Higher Secondary School. For registration of societies, the board recommended Duansu Welfare Society, UNB Naga Colony, Burma Camp and grant-in-aid for Living Bread Welfare Society, Padampukhuri village Dimapur and Rev. Longsa Memorial Orphanage, Kevijau Colony Dimapur. Work distribution pertaining to the upcoming Republic Day celebrations was also discussed in the meeting.
