
Several student bodies conducted their respective general conferences and session. Following are the reports of the events.
LASU general session underway: The 23rd general session of Longmatra Area Students’ Union (LASU) got underway at Tethuyo Village under the theme “Through education bring good changes”.
The inaugural programme was graced by Er. H. Alongse, Principal ITI, Mon as special guest. The session will conclude on January 10.
Addressing the gathered students, the special guest told the students that being responsible citizens they must strive to help society by coming together.
He also asked the students to come out of comfort zone and explore the challenges ahead by reminding them that success can be achieved only if they are ready to sacrifice their time and energy.
“Opportunity once gone will never come back, do not take academic study as a burden rather it should be taken as an opportunity that will lead you to where you want to be in life”, he added.
Delivering short speech Sangpangchang Longkumer EAC, Longmatra said, when people come together nothing was impossible, and that changes will come only when we change ourselves.
Secretary NDPP, T.Kirithong Sangtam also spoke at the programme.
At the inaugural programme, Tsomukuen Keor Academic Excellence Award for the year 2019 was given to Joel Anar for securing the highest mark in HSLC and Longtsala T for HSSLC from Longmatra area.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by T.Atsala and special number by Albert Sangtam.
SRSU annual general conference concludes: Three-day annual general conference of Sakipheto Range Students’ Union (SRSU) hosted by Sakipheto Students Union (SSU) at Sakipheto village concluded on January 6.
According to SRSU, the union flag was hoisted on the second day of the conference by the chief guest, Tokihe Chishi, rtd. project officer, I&C, president, Sakipheto Area Public Union (SAPU) who also spoke on the session’s theme “Passion meets purpose”.
Qhetovi Swu, former president Sakipheto Range Students’ Union graced the inaugural session of the conference asking the students to work hard in order to excel in life.
On the second day, Thsuvisie Phoji, ADC, Medziphema, felicitated the students who cleared HSLC & HSSLC with flying colours.
Dr. Hesheto Y. Chishi, director, Indigenous Cultural Society Nagaland & Research Expert UNESCO was the guest speaker.
Speaking on the theme on Sunday morning, he reminded the students to uphold the value of one’s own culture and tradition which was their true identity and challenged the students to be an instrument to Naga society.
Mughaho Swu, associate pastor youth, Diphupar A Sümi Baptist Church at the valedictory session, inspired students with his personal life experiences, and urged them to uphold the value of student life and make the best use of it.
Other dignitaries who exhorted the students during the conference included Kawoto Zhimomi vice president SAGB’s Union and Kakiho Awomi, president, WSSU.
Competition on various indigenous games, sports, literary and cultural items were conducted during the conference. More than hundreds students from seven units of the union attended the conference.
CPO 37th general session preparation underway: Preparation for the 37th general session-cum- 5th Chakhesang Day is underway at Chesezu village, Phek district.
A press release from media coordinator, Kuzhovesa Soho stated that, the general session is scheduled from January 9 to 10.
The general session will be held on January 9 and the 5th Chakhesang Day will be held on January 10 respectively.
CPO has appealed all the participating village delegates to avail home stay accommodation which is being prepared by the host village.
CPO officials also requested all the Chakhesang villages to be part of the programme and be blessed.
SRSU gears up for biennial conference: Preparation for Satakha Range Students’ Union (SRSU) 34th biennial conference is underway at Kilo Old Village.
The conference will be held from January 10-13 under the theme, “Quest for Excellence”. According to Satakha Range Students’ Union, the inaugural programme on January 11 would be graced by minister for Agriculture and Cooperation, G. Kaito Aye as special guest.
