Godown gutted by fire in Phesema

A wooden godown (warehouse) named “New Kohima Agencies” at Dziicharii Phesema near Kohima, was completely gutted by a fire on Saturday around 6:30 pm.

The proprietor informed media persons that altogether 720 cartons of cigarettes, including some chips, biscuits and milk dairy products worth a few crores were destroyed in an area of around 16,000 sq. feet.

The intervention of two fire tenders doused the fire and prevented its further spread to neighbouring houses and the jungle. According to the sources the fire was suspected to have started by a fire made to burn garbage near the godown. Police said there were no human casualties.
