CETA ceremony held in Changki

The Changki Ayim Asem Senso Mungdang awarded the Changki Educational Trust Awards (CETA) to 12 recipients in a ceremony held at Changki village on January 10.

The award ceremony coincided with the Changki Students’ Union’s 4th Sports & Conference where hundreds of Changki students and parents from different district units are currently camping in the village.
Senior treasury officer, P. Ajung Amer and Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service recipient, L. Ben Longkumer, Commandant, NAPTC, Chümoukedima exhorted the gathering.
Amer urged the students to not attend schools and colleges merely for the sake of studying. He opined that students today waste too much time on the internet and fail at realizing the potential of the talents God gives them and allow life to pass by like a dream. He encouraged the youngsters to hone more competitive spirits within themselves, honour God always and try and become like the biblical Elijah.
Ben Longkumer commended the award function as an “excellent and classic example of offering young people more opportunities than ever before” to help them get positively involved and become pro-active and progressive. He added that the effort made by the Trust could be a catalyst of change, nurturing positive values towards a healthy and constructive public spirit.
He also encouraged the gathering saying that in a world of opportunities, though the journey may be difficult, nothing was impossible and without solutions.
He encouraged the students to embrace one’s own problems and find strength in one’s own passion, by disciplining and motivating the self through hard work to overcome the new challenges.
Later, Dr. Narola Dangti and Yangerjungla Pongener gave award speeches on behalf of all the awardees. Both the recipients expressed their gratitude to the Changki Senso Educational Trust for the initiative taken to encourage the students of the community. Furthermore, Dr. Narola encouraged the students to develop the habit of reading.
The ceremony was chaired by Dr. Jamedi Longkumer, secretary CSET. Aotsungba Longchari, president, CAASM and Lendimenba Amri, Chairman, Village Council Changki, also addressed the gathering.
