
As part of its community services to the local populace, Assam Rifles organized various activities across the state.
Medical camp: Kohima Battalion and Mon Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp on January 14 at Viswema village, Kohima and Lungwa village of Mon respectively.
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), 144 patients were examined and treated at Viswema while at Lungwa 192 villagers were examined. Medical advice was imparted apart from distribution of free medicines.
National integration tour: Wokha Battalion organized a national integration tour for students of Nagaland, which was flagged off on January 8 by Nagaland governor, P B Acharya.
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), tour team comprised of 20 girl students and two lady teachers from Wokha, Kiphire, Phek and Kohima. The flagging in was organised at Kohima on January 15, wherein, Cdr HQ 5 Sector advised the students to utilize the exposure and experience gained during the visit and also encouraged the students to work hard and to be role models for the society.
The tour itinerary included visits to various tourist places, prominent historical places and cultural institutions.
Lecture on ‘join the Indian Army’: Zunheboto Battalion and Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on “Join the Indian Army” for students of Government High School, Zunheboto and Haraka School and GPS Tening on January 14 and 15 respectively.
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), aim of the lecture was to generate awareness amongst students about the eligibility criteria, various types of entry schemes, pay and emoluments, training and various career opportunities available in the Armed Forces. 123 students from Government High School, Zunheboto and 40 students from Haraka School and GPS Tening attended the lecture.
