Reports of Assam Rifles civic action programs from across Nagaland

Assam Rifles, the oldest para-military force in India, conducts numerous civic action programs across the State to help the people of the State, especially the rural population, and to promote military-civil relations. Following are some reports of their activities from across Nagaland.

Mokokchung Battalion lecture on HIV&AIDS: Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North), conducted a lecture on HIV/AIDS for local residents of Tuli on January 10.

A press release issued by Assam Rifles stated that the aim of the lecture was to create public awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and preventive measures. Misconceptions related with the mode with which HIV/ AIDS spreads and also the need for empathy towards those ailing from the same was also covered. 23 senior students including one teacher of View Valley Academy School, Tuli attended the lecture. 

Kohima Battalion motivational lecture: Kohima Battalion of Assam Rifles organized a motivational lecture-&-awareness program on the theme “Stay fit, stay healthy”, at Modern Academy, New Ministers’ Hill, Kohima on January 2.

According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the lecture covered the importance of a healthy diet and benefits of staying fit. The participants were made aware of common diseases, most of which are a direct result of unhealthy diet practices and lifestyle. 107 students and 8 teachers attended the program.

Tizit Battalion installs solar street lights: Tizit Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) installed ten Solar Street Lights at Tekun Pinhang village of Mon District, Nagaland on December 20, 2018.

A press release issued by Assam Rifles stated that the newly formed village, Tekun Pinhang, presently has no electricity connection and these solar lights will provide much needed lighting for the villagers.

Chieswema Battalion’s free medical camp at Chiephobozou Village: Chieswema Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a free medical camp on December 18 at Chiephobozou Village of Kohima District.

A press release issued by Assam Rifles stated that a specially constituted medical team comprising of two doctors and four medical staff under Chief Medical Officer conducted the medical camp.  207 patients were checked and treated during the camp, of which 82 were male, 97 female and 28 were children. The importance of hygiene and sanitation was explained to the participants for ensuring a healthier living standard.

Wokha Battalion lecture on Education for Progression: Wokha battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on “Education for progression” at Wokha on December 5, where the importance of education towards personality development and to facilitate a better future was discussed. Various career options available for students were also covered.  One teacher and 50 students participated in the lecture.
