Election will go ahead as scheduled: DDGBA

Even as tribe executives expressed opposition election of Dimapur District GBs’ Association (DDGBA) office bearers, the DDGBA Saturday affirmed that opposition by “some vested group” would not affect election process to be held on January 22. In a press note, DDGBA president Tokuho Suhoi Neho and general secretary T Kenneth Tsopoe said decision to extend tenure of present office bearers to hold DDBGA office for another six months (June-November 2018) was approved by executive meeting on June 16, 2018 and accordingly general session was held on November 24, 2018.

They said all eight administrative unit executive members and tribal representatives had a meeting on December 1, 2018where 30 members present resolved to allow old team to make necessary arrangement for eight unit executive members and 16 recognised tribal executives to elect new team of office bearers within January 2019. They said executive also resolved that GBs who did not subscribe yearly membership fee shall not be allowed to participate in DDGBA activities as per constitution (Yehzabo) Art 5 clause 3, which was notified on November 10, 2018.
