No authority can dictate the people’s Fundamental Rights and no power of the country can destabilise them, stated Khekiye K. Sema, IAS (Retd). He alleged that the BJP wants a country were only Hindus live, and where one cannot practice some other religion of their choosing.
KK Sema was speaking at the launching of program for “Jan Sampark Abhiyan”, door – door campaign organised by Dimapur District Congress Committee on January 19 in Dimapur.
He pointed to the incidences of beef being banned in many places as an example of the BJP dictating the fundamental rights of the people. Sema, however said that the Congress had always been giving the kind of freedom that every citizen deserves knowing that no authority could dictate the fundamental rights of the people. He stated that it was among the fundamental principles of the Congress to respect each religion and show respect to minorities. All these principles have been wiped out by the BJP, he alleged.
Secretary, NPCC, Temjen Yanger, in his introductory speech, stated that the BJP government was for the corporate sector and not for the entire nation. He laid out three strengths of the Congress party — secularism, inclusiveness and progressiveness.
Vice president, NPCC, Jonathan and former candidate, Akavi Zhimomi also spoke during the event and a special number was presented by N.K Naga. General secretary, AMCC, Rosy pronounced the benediction and vote of thanks was delivered by secretary, Media Cell DCC, Kutoho Chishi.
