NFHRCC reminds CM of December 11 meeting

Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has reminded chief minister of the December 11, 2018 meeting and asked him to act on his assurance made to the committee for the remaining uncut portions of the foothill road, which would eventually erase the confusion in the minds of the public as well as accomplish the historic project at the earliest.

According to NFHRCC convenor Supu Jamir, general secretary W. Lemba Chang and secretary W. Chenithung Humtsoe, chief minister Neiphiu Rio had on December 11 directed principal secretary (R&B) to examine and take up the case on priority.

Consequent upon the statement issued by the Tuli Area Joint Council Forum (TAJCF), NFHRCC held an emergency meeting and deliberated on the matter. Appreciating TAJCF for pressing upon the state government to execute the work which had been left pending for a long period, NHFRCC however appealed to all tribes/associations/unions or individuals not to go directly to the media before the grievances were being brought to the notice of the committee.

As a matter of fact, the signatories maintained that the committee was constituted by the apex tribal hohos.

While also acknowledging the concern raised by TAJCF to fulfil the long cherished goal of the Naga Public, it also reminded that the NFHRCC had been tirelessly shouldering the cause for past six years, confronting so many odd situations.

Therefore, any unhealthy act with the committee will be same as an unethical act against the apex hohos, it added. Further, NFHRCC resolved to endorse the Ao tribal representatives to examine the matter raised by TAJCF if so needed.

Meanwhile, NFHRCC also decided send a team on monthly/periodic visit to the Doyang bridge construction site at Liphanyan, Governor’s camp to monitor the work progress.

Accordingly, on January 19, 2019, a two-member team– S Yanger Angh and Tsapipa Sangtam visited the site and interact with the in-charge of the construction team. The members urged the firm to complete the construction of the bridge piers by this working season.

NFHRCC said that the members were satisfied with the progress and also appealed to the contractor to maintain the same momentum so as to accomplish the mission within the desired time frame.
