Blood donation camp at MCCK

Red Ribbon Club (RRC) and NSS, Model Christian College Kohima (MCCK) jointly organized an Orientation Program, Blood Donation and HIV Test Drive at the college campus on January 19. 

A press release from the MCCK administrator stated, resource persons for the event were Dr. Avila Sangtam, MO, Blood Bank, NHAK, Chongkhoi Khaming, assistant director (MM), NSACS, and Benathung Humtsoe, DA, IEC, NSACS. 

Dr. Alila spoke on the “Importance of blood donation” and benefits, even for the donor, of donating blood to others. “Nagaland,” she said, “is the worst performing state among the North Eastern states, in terms of donating blood.” 

Chongkhoi spoke on the basics of HIV, where she gave a briefing about the common misconceptions of HIV and AIDS, the different routes of infection, ABC steps to avoid the virus and blood testing procedures. 

Benathung presented the HIV scenario of the state. The orientation program was followed by a blood donation drive and HIV tests. Altogether 21 volunteers donated blood.
