NDPP Peren statement ‘defamatory’: NPF Peren

Naga People’s Front (NPF) Peren division has termed Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Peren region January 22 statement as “defamatory”.

In a press release, NPF Peren division, president, Haigam Kauring, pointed out that TR Zeliang as the then cabinet minister has strongly advocated, endorsed and upheld the “cherished dreams” of the people of Tening for up-gradation of Tening SDO (Civil) to ADC Hqs.

It claimed that at the behest and insistence of TR Zeliang, Tening SDO (Civil) was upgraded to ADC Hqs by the then DAN government with Neiphiu Rio as the chief minister.

The division also queried when had Namri Nchang, MLA, wrote or talked with chief minister for up-gradation of Athibung EAC to SDO (Civil) and pointed out that Peren DPDB recommendation alone cannot meet the requirements for creation or up-gradation of an administrative unit.

On Peren-Tening road, NPF Peren division said TR Zeliang included the road in the “state priority list” and forwarded the same to government of India. Quoting NDPP Peren region, NPF Peren division said the former had stated that Rs. 1.50 crore allotted for improvement of Peren-Tening road as “too less” and that the party does not regret when the fund was diverted to another district.

In this regard, the division said Namri should not have allowed “others” to take away sanctioned amounts to other districts when he as an elected member could not bring any project to Peren district.

NPF Peren division further claimed that cardamom farming was approved against Mbaupungwa and Nkialwa villages during 2016-17 under NEC. However, immediately after NDPP-led PDA came into power, the division claimed that Namri wrote to the department of horticulture to divert the same to his village, Nchangram.
