NST bus and driver detained with explosives

A Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus (NL-11-2744), along with the driver, was detained at Wokha police station following the recovery of explosives, ammunition and weapons from inside the bus. 28 Assam Rifles, along with police representatives, discovered the items in the bus carrying around 28 passengers, near ICICI Bank, Tsumang A, Wokha at 9.30 pm on January 26. The driver was identified as Toiho Sumi, a resident of Dimapur.

According to a press statement issued by SP Singh, Nb sub (GD), Wokha Battalion 28th  Assam Rifles, based on specific intelligence received from 164 Naga (TA), Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCPs) were set up at two locations in Wokha Town at 8:30 pm.
The search team found an unidentified lady’s bag on the bus and the following items were recovered from it: Three handmade grenades, one live round (9 mm), 12 live rounds (7.65 mm), seven live rounds (5.56 mm), one detonator, one release spring, 150 grams of explosive/gun powder and one lead acid battery. 
Later, the driver and bus were given over into the custody of Wokha Police Station.
