
Various organizations have offered their condolences over the demise of Thungchano Tsanglao, mother of ADC Shamator, Lankonsen Tsanglao, and former president of Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH), who passed away at Zion hospital Dimapur on January 26.
Y. Patton: Deputy chief minister of Nagaland, Y. Patton in a condolence message expressed deep sadness at the untimely demise of Thungchano Tsanglao.
The deputy CM stated that her contribution to the Lotha and Naga society was immense and described her as a woman of integrity. He added that the void created by her demise would be difficult to fill. Further, Patton and his family has conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and beloved ones and also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
NMA: Naga Mothers Association (NMA) has expressed sadness at the demise of Thungjano Tsanglao.
The NMA described late Thungjano as a strong, dedicated woman leader, who devoted her life with utmost sincerity and commitment. It added that she was extremely supportive of the NMA during her tenure. NMA said her sudden and unexpected demise was a huge loss. Further, NMA prayed to almighty to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear the irreparable loss.
YTC: Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) has mourned the demise of Thungchano Tsanglao.
The YTC stated that in her death, the Nagas had lost a motherly figure and the vacuum created by his death would be hard to fill. YTC prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased.
TR Zeliang
mourns DP Panmei
Leader of Opposition, TR Zeliang, has expressed deep pain and sorrow and extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family members of Dingakthui Phianrongdi Panmei, popularly known as DP Panmei. A condolence note from Zeliang stated that the deceased was born on April 11, 1951 at Azuram Village, Tamenlong, Manipur.
Apart from serving the Zeliangrong Students’ Union, the Naga Students Federation, the Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Rights and the North-East Students and Youth Organisation in various capacities, late Panmei guided the All Zeliangrong Students Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) from 1972 to 1977 as its third president, the note added. He also served as the personal secretary of Haipai Rani Gaidinliu from 1973 to 1975. Zeliang added that late Panmei was a Member of District Council (MDC), Tamenlong Autonomous District Council from 1984 to 1988. From 1989 to 1994, he served as general secretary of the Zeliangrong Peoples’ Convention (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland). He also founded the Christian Grammar School and served as its Principal from 1991 to 1994. Late Panmei successfully contested the Manipur Assembly Elections from Tamei-Tousem Constituency and served as Minister of Family Welfare (1995-1999) after which he rejoined Christian Grammar School and served as its Principal till 2012. Calling his demise a great loss for the Zeliangrong people and the Nagas in particular, TR Zeliang prayed that God grant peace and solace to all the bereaved family members, relatives, friends, colleagues and all his near and dear ones. “May the departed soul rest in eternal peace”, the note concluded.
