Inauguration of preparations for Salesian Missions Centenary

The three-year preparations for Salesian Missions in Northeast India’s Centenary, to be celebrated in 2022, was inaugurated at DBIDL, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, on Wednesday.  

Rector of Don Bosco College, Itanagar, and overseer of Centenary Celebrations, Fr. C. C. Jose gave an introduction to the preparation activities. In his address, he highlighted the importance of the preparatory years, and listed the three themes of the preparatory activities — 2019: Evangelization and Catechetics, 2020: Youth Ministry and 2021: Salesian Spirituality. 
Regional Councillor for South Asia, Rome, Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, officially inaugurated the preparations. General Councillor for the Salesian Missions, Rome, Fr. G. Basanes, hoisted the Centenary Flag. 
Provincial of Salesian Province of Dimapur, Fr. Kuruvachira Jose, delivered a welcome address, where he presented a brief history of the Province of Dimapur.
Earlier, the gathering was treated to a prayer dance by Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, and a Chakesang cultural dance by DB Tech. 
Students of the school also presented a welcome song and Salesian College presented the Centenary Anthem. The program was chaired by Benjongnaro Jamir and Lighting of lamp was initiated by dignitaries present in the program.
