Biotechnology seminar in Dimapur

To celebrate the 25th foundation day of Nagaland University, the department of Biotechnology, School of Engineering and Technology organized a one day seminar on “Biotechnology: An emerging future” on March 28, at the Conference Hall, SET, NU, Dimapur. 

A press release from school of engineering & technology, Nagaland central university, department of biotechnology, i/c head and assistant professor Dr. Hanumant Singh Rathore stated that the seminar was inaugurated by professor SK Sharma, Dean, SET, NU. 

He commended the department for organizing the seminar and urged the students to take the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and focus on trends of emerging technologies. 

The seminar was divided into two sessions — the first session started on the topic “Essential genetic markers as a tool for Bio-anthropological studies” conducted by Dr. R. Nandakumar, assistant professor, St. Joseph University. Faculty of the department of Biotechnolgy, SET delivered a lecture on “Trends in Biotechnology”, “CRISPR-Cas9” and “Stem cell therapy”. 

In the second session a “Dynamic light scattering (DLS)” and “Polymerase chain Reaction” hands on training session was conducted. 

All together 50 students of B. Tech, MSc and BSc. backgrounds from SET, Nagaland University and St. Joseph University participated in the seminar.
