Liquor worth approximately Rs. 60 lakhs was seized by the Diphupar Naga Women Organization (DNWO) and dumped at Diphupar village on Wednesday.
A brief program was held at Diphupar Village Council (DVC) hall, before the liquor was dumped. In the program, DNWO chairperson Ajano Lotha said that the liquor was confiscated within the village jurisdiction on April 2 morning.
Ajano lauded various organisations of Diphupar who had extended their support and cooperation and called upon them to continue to do the same in the future in order to rid the village of the liquor consumption menace.
Diphupar Village Council (DVC) chairman, Ghuzui Shohe lauded the DNWO and highlighted the importance of eradicating the sale and consumption of liquor, in line with NLTP Act 1989.
He said that liquor had destroyed many lives and families. Lamenting that people now look at Diphupar as a centre and stockist of liquor, he called upon the residents of Diphupar to extend their support and cooperation in the endeavour to eradicate this menace from society.
Shohe also called upon denizens to appreciate the DNWO which has been trying its best to suppress anti-social activities within the locality.
The seized items were dumped by pouring them out at a dumping site in the presence various Diphupar organizations.
