Advisor Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire on Friday inaugurated a bailey bridge over Barü stream which leads to Mima “Bee Village” under Kohima district.
Dedicating the bridge to the people of Mima village, which serves as a lifeline to the farmers, Kire appreciated the village elders and menfolk, for their efforts in constructing the bridge.
He said, Mima village being blessed with abundant natural resources, the village has the prospects to build a self reliant and strong economy, if the people could take advantage of its resources and conducive environment.
He also assured his best to extend support to the rural populace in whatever ways he can for their benefit.
Advisor Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan, who also spoke on the occasion described the people of Mima village as “hardworking, warm, hospitable and creative” and added that one of the uniqueness of the village is the practice of traditional underground bee keeping, which was known worldwide.
Emphasizing on the need to continue to conserve and preserve the work culture, Yanthan asserted that this traditional knowledge must be preserve at all cost.
He further said that the practice of beekeeping was good for the environment as it increase agricultural produces and purifies air and water as well. He also stated that “Cradle of honey mission” is being made possible because of the Mima village.
The bridge under VBKC Project Thawuzhu was constructed through the initiative of Dr. Neikiesalie Kire. The programme was organised by the Mima Village Bee Keeping Committee.
