Making a clarification over what was described as “confusions and doubts” created by the ongoing joint political military operation by India and Myanmar against NSCN/GPRN (Aung Yung), the MIP in-charge ‘maj’ Joseph Lamkang has accused the Myanmar army (Tatmadaw) under northern command and comprising of eight battalions of complete violation of cease fire ground rules by forcibly intruding into the NSCN/GPRN council headquarter at Taka on January 29, 2019.
However, MIP said the NSCN/GPRN Naga army maintained restraint and vacating the headquarters. In the midst of the confusion created, MIP said some senior party members (cease fire delegation team) and Naga army cadres were arrested by the Myanmar military under false charges and were being confined at Khamti prison till date.
MIP accused the Myanmar army of creating a “war-like situation in the Naga areas” by deploying massive military forces with heavy artillery causing havoc and uneasiness among the Nagas.
It cited how, a few days back, the Tatmadaw had indiscriminately fired artilleries and heavy guns on jungles and nearby populated areas in Konyak region, in order to spark fear and panic in the minds of “revolutionaries and innocent public.”
For the record, it said NSCN/GPRN had signed a legal cease fire agreement with Myanmar at the invitation of the latter as two entities on April 9, 2012 and that ever since the NSCN/GPRN has been sincerely honouring the cease fire ground rule.
According to MIP, the cease fire ground rules included:1. cessation of all hostilities; 2.cease fire office at the designated camp at Khamti town;3.providing information on troop movements within each other’s jurisdiction;4.free passage for NSCN/GPRN members without arms and uniform within Myanmar and 5. That both Myanmar government and NSCN/GPRN would cooperate and work together to promote peace and development in Naga areas.
MIP said the cease fire was hence “not secretive but crystal clear” with no hidden strings attached.
However , MIP said, the complexity of the cease fire arose after the Myanmar government began adopting hostile attitude towards Nagas when the Myanmar government accused NSCN/GPRN of making baseless allegation and enforced its National Ceasefire Agreement(NCA) on Nagas.
Despite such heavy threat and intimidations, MIP said the NSCN/GPRN refused to sign on the NCA as it was “completely alien to the Nagas” as it had nothing to do with the Naga struggle for independence.
Due to this, MIP said tension between the two reached its zenith and the rest was history.
Taking advantage of the situation, MIP said the government of India resorted to all kinds of “ill-tactics to sabotage the struggle” by masterminding the ongoing joint operation and extending all possible logistics and material support to the Tatmadaw.
MIP termed the joint operations by the intelligence and armed forces of “both colonial countries” as a “covert alliance” to carry out a well-coordinated operation in order to “completely wipe out the Naga revolution and continue their hegemonic policies to dominate and subjugate the Naga country.”
MIP accused both countries of adopting similar policy to divide Nagas based on artificial boundaries to completely assimilate the Nagas politically, economically and culturally into the Myanmarese mainstream forever.
MIP said after independence, India has been exploiting and oppressing the Nagas for decades in the Western South East Asia(WESEA) in the “so-called north east and the Kashmiri people”, to suppress the liberation movements, through her brutal ,draconian and black laws, while still claiming to be the “world’s largest democracy”.
MIP said NSCN/GPRN sincerely thanked every Naga citizen and well-wishers for their overwhelming support and encouragement for raising their voices at the crucial moment of the national struggle and appealed to all Nagas from north, south, east and west to unite and give “unwavering support for our genuine cause”.
