Legal awareness on road safety

DLSAs of Zunheboto and Kohima organized legal awareness programme on road safety in collaboration with traffic police on May 25. 

In Zunheboto, the programme was held at Daily Bazar Traffic Point Junction, Zunheboto.
According to ZDLSA, vehicles were checked and those defaulters not producing proper documents were given legal awareness. 
DTO, Zunheboto, Bendang, along with staff of DTO briefed on the procedure for obtaining pollution certificate, insurance, proper registration of vehicle which was earlier registered from outside the state and legality of driving license. 
SDPO Zunheboto, Zubenthung Ovung, along with traffic personnel explained the mandatory use of helmet and seat belt, prohibition of LED lights, penalty for driving without proper vehicle documents, prohibition of mobile phones and driving under influence of alcohol. 
Secretary ZDLSA, Wokono Yhoshü along with APP and penal lawyers explained to the defaulters, the penalty as per the provisions of MV Act. 
Similar programme was also held in Kohima organized by DLSA in collaboration with traffic police personnel and Phesama Village Students’ Union (PVSU) at Kisama Petrol Pump, Kohima. 
Checking of vehicle documents, under age driving, use of led/neon lights/ benefits of insuring the vehicles were carried out during the awareness. 
All together around 250 vehicles were checked.  During the awareness it was learned that most of the vehicles do not have proper documents and all the vehicles were not insured. 
Further, the KDLSA team in appreciation for those vehicles owners who have all the proper documents were acknowledged with gift hampers.
