Lotha Academy seminar on Lotha language development

Lotha Academy (LA) in collaboration with Mt. Tiyi College, Wokha organized a one-day seminar on Lotha language development different resource persons on May 24, in keeping with the UN’s declaration of 2019 as year of indigenous language. 

A press release from Lotha Academy Literature Committee (LALC) member, Aremo Ngullie stated that, Father Abraham Lotha, president of LA explained the importance and significance of indigenous language of the world and the crucial role played by it in bridging the gap of social and religious divide. He further stressed on the importance and preservation of indigenous language, as thousands were on the verge of extinction.

A session on Lotha poetry and recitation was also held with Chophatung Humtsoe, Yimlothung Ezung and Nyanchumi Ezung of Longsa village Wokha as the resource persons. They recited various poems in the form of dramatic monologue and sonnets which enlightened the gathering.

The seminar saw a huge turnout of people from different walks of life, besides students and more then forty Lotha teachers. A very healthy debate and interaction between the participants and resource person was the major attraction. 

Thungrhomo Odyuo SDEO Chozuba chaired the first session and Dr. Apeni Lotha, principal MTC gave the welcome note.
