
Peace Channel (PC) in collaboration with counsel of Kacharigaon organized a programme on “Ecumenical dialogue and peace building in Nagaland” at Kacharigaon (Pheyima) village panchayat hall on May 25.
A press release from Peace Channel stated that,
Elizabeth Humtsoe, assistant professor City Law College, Dimapur, as the moderator explained the meaning of “Ecumenical Dialogue” and to develop a closer relationship between the denominations. She also stated that, this programme was to equip ideas and thoughts from one another and to handle the conflict in the society.
Elizabeth also said that every individual has different good qualities and encouraged participants not to judge and discriminate others. She also focused on the shift from micro identity to macro identity and exposing others on social media as another form of conflict.
There was discussion where participants shared their views on peace and reasons for conflict. After the discussion, an action plan was made where participants focused to penetrate the church, youth and women in smaller circles to focus on conflict management.
Earlier, Chumdemo Odyuo, project coordinator, Peace Channel gave the welcome note, invocation by Ajanuo Rio youth director, PBC in the programme chaired by Livi Yepthomi from Oriental Theological Seminary (OTS). Vote of thanks was delivered by Kacharigaon Village Council (KVC) chairman, Vitho Zau. This programme was participated by different community leaders from women, council, youth and students union.
