SAMETI training for women farmers

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a two-day training programme on “Sensitization of women farmers’ friends on formation of group, farm school and guidelines/modalities of farmers’ friends” for farmers’ friends from five ATMA districts viz, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng and Mokokchung at SAMETI, Medziphema from May 29 to 30. 

A press release from Medziphema SAMETI director stated that, resource persons were Vikaho Chophi, Tiajungla Longchar and Sentinaro Longchar, deputy project directors, SAMETI. 

The trainees were taken on a field visit to bio-control, agri. chemistry & bio-fertilizer laboratories. Dr. Beremjungla, lecturer and in-charge bio-control lab gave the trainees a tour of the lab and explained about the production of bio-agents in the lab. Demonstrations on seed treatment and preparation of Vermicompost was conducted by Yavikhotou, AFA bio-fertilizer lab. At the agri. chemistry lab, a demonstration on soil sample collection was conducted by Imosanen, AI.  

The valedictory function was chaired by Vikaho Chophi, DPD SAMETI, while feedback on the training was given by trainees. In her valedictory address, Dr. I. Amenla, director SAMETI & principal IETC Medziphema commended the participants for playing multiple roles as wife, mother, homemaker and farmer, to name a few. She encouraged the participants to be open towards learning in order to empower themselves and attend more training in the future. 

The training programme concluded with distribution of certificates to the participants by director SAMETI and vote of thanks was proposed by Tiajungla Longchar, DPD SAMETI.
