
Yai Zone Wildlife Control Committee (YZWCC) comprising members from Y-Aünru, Shiponger, Losolo, Chassir, Leangkonger, Wapher and Rurur-A and Rurur-B and Sikiur-B villages has adopted six points resolution to be enforced within its jurisdiction stretching from Y-Aünrü village to Kimiphu under Shamator and Chessore sub-Division.
A press release by executive chairman, K.Joseph and general secretary, K. Phanongkiu, informed that the resolutions were adopted in the committee’s general meeting held on May 27 at head office, Leangkonger Village.
The meeting reviewed its resolutions adopted in the year 2011 and resolved to penalize any individual or a group of person with Rs 50000 for killing rare an endangered species namely stag, tiger and bear.
It also resolved to award Rs 5000 to any person providing information regarding killing of endangered species.
The meeting also resolved not to allow any individual(s) to kill Amur Falcon, Hornbill, Tragopan, Great Barbet and Green Barbet within its jurisdiction failing which defaulter would be penalized.
YZWCC has also restricted hunting within the Yai Zone and warned that defaulters shall be forwarded to concerned village councils for penalization as per the respective council resolution.
It has also banned usage of chemicals and items for fishing or any other activity within the Yai Zone has been restricted and defaulters would be penalized.
The meeting also resolved to permit only the respective village council members to become executives of Yai Zone wildlife control committee and to constitute chairman and secretary from among the executives only.
