‘Ak-su’ observed at Longkhum village

The age old celebration of ‘Ak-su’ (Ao) or Vukchita (Lotha) between Longkhum and Okotso villages was observed at Longkhum village on April 26.

A press release from Okotso village council chairman, Chumdemo Ngullie stated that, this has been a practice ever since its inception in 1963, introduced by the far sighted pioneers who valued meaningful, strong, social relation and exchange of cultural values. 

This event is celebrated between the two villages alternately every three years. The Ak-su get together was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Chungli Khel, Longkhum village. A 29 member team of Okotso including Chumdemo Ngullie, chairman, OVC, Benthungo Murry, VDB secretary and T.L. Merry represented Okotso village. The next meeting will be held at Okotso village.
