
Joint meeting on plastic free awareness campaign was held at DC’s conference hall, Kiphire on May 29.
According to DIPR report, ADC, Kiphire appealed to the ward leaders and church leaders to give proper guidance and awareness to the public. Suggestions from ward leaders were put forward and the district administration advised all the 11 ward chairmen and officers to make bamboo enclosure in their respective offices and wards for throwing away the wastes.
It was also informed that a fine would be imposed if the public throw their garbage in the open streets. KTCC also requested the district administration to inform the butchers as well the fishmongers to stop using plastic including local people who are running the shop.
DC, Kiphire informed the ward leaders that an inspection will be held on June 4 in all the wards and on June 5 during “World Environment Day” where awards will be given to the wards maintaining the bamboo enclosure properly.
