NSRLM concludes 4-day residential workshop

Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) four-day residential workshop on promoting model federation, spelling out capacity needs, building strategies on inclusion of vulnerable persons, began on May 28 and concluded on May 31 at AIDA, Dimapur.

A press release by NSRLM stated that the workshop was attended by 148 programme managers and thematic area coordinators of 43 blocks under nine districts.
It said the objective of the workshop was to strengthen the community institutions towards promotion of model federation as financial intermediary for its member SHGs and to ensure universal inclusion. 
In a keynote address, additional secretary, RD and mission director, NSRLM, Athel O Lotha, appreciated the support of the National Mission Management Unit, NRLM, MoRD to NSRLM.
She encouraged the staff to ask and learn as much as they can so that they are equipped with enhanced knowledge and skills for effective programme implementation.
In his address, Chief Operating Officer (COO), NSRLM, M. RollanLotha, reiterated that the lynchpin of a sustainable grass root community institutions was not through beneficiary mode, but of ownership mode.
He said this collective ownership ensures space, voice and resources for the communities in enabling them to access various entitlements, rights and services at the doorstep. 
In closing remarks, resource person, Shivaji Choudhury stated that the mission can transform the rural poor from beneficiary to member to being an owner.
Resource person, Pradyut Bhattacharjee, emphasized robust systems, processes and empowered members as the driving force in promotion of federation as financial intermediaries. 
Resource person, Girish Pradhan, asserted that integration of all thematic as the need to strengthen the Community Institutions while resource person, Bidyut K Basu stressed on fostering SHG members as bank facilitators by empowering women to drive financial inclusion. 
Resource person, Seema Bhaskaran from NMMU, MoRD appreciated the progress the state has made as one of the pilot state for rolling out gender. She emphasized on behavioural change for universal inclusion of marginalized people and enabling their active participation in their political, economic and social lives, thereby access to entitlements, rights and services.
Resource person, Kavita Maria from NMMU, MoRD commented that the Ministry’s expectation from Nagaland SRLM was more as it is the pilot state amongst the north east. 
Led by the COO, NSRLM the workshop was jointly facilitated by Imonenla Imkong Phom, SPM, NSRLM; NMMU officials and the national resource persons.
