NVCO backs ANCSU demand

Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation(NVCO) has extended its support to All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) protest against the misuse of scholarships meant for thousand students, terming it as a fight for the welfare of students.

NVCO president and advocate Kezhokhoto Savi said that the alleged misuse of scholarship involving crores of rupees by the directorate of Technical Education was not only illegal but "very shameful".

NVCO has asked the state government to take severe actions against all the employees responsible in the department.

"Something is very seriously wrong with the directorate of Technical Education where the director himself admitted the amount of Rs.1.32 crore was temporary adjusted for unforeseen expenditure, which is illegal," NVCO stated.

While agreeing with ANCSU’s demand of director’s resignation, NVCO also questioned the recruitment of the director as non-indigenous Naga inhabitant.

"We have non-indigenous Naga inhabitant whose recruitment and entry was constable in police department and rose up to top ranking police officer (PHQ) and created thousand crores scam at the cost of our so called ‘Government of Nagaland’ and till date he is a free man," Savi stated.

Savi said this was an eye-opener for the public where the government sometime chooses to remain silent and fail to work as a welfare state.
