
Graduation ceremony-cum-induction for nine-month diploma in school counselling organised by State Council of Education Research & Training (SCERT) Nagaland was held at SIEMAT conference hall Kohima on June 1.
According to DIPR report, advisor IPR, SCERT and Home Guards, Toshi Wungtung in his speech, said that the school counselling course will contribute in policy making in the government and also take the society forward in the field of education. He reminded the graduating teachers that they were the pioneering torch bearers in moulding the society for a better tomorrow. Wungtung opined that counselling in education was an important ingredient in building the career of students and a long term investment. He therefore encouraged the teachers to bring about the inner-self and reform and structure the students for a better society.
Associate professor & nodal officer guidance & counselling cell, SCERT, Dr Zavise Rume said that through the director’s initiative the government of Nagaland implemented the course on April 5, 2017 in the state. He remarked that Nagaland was the first state in the country to introduce the counselling course in school and that many states in India wanted to adopt Nagaland method of school counselling.
He also encouraged the graduates to continue practicing professionalizing reading, writing, thinking, mediation and take the society forward. Principal secretary School Education & SCERT, Menukhol John congratulated the graduating trainees. Altogether 24 students graduated in the 1st batch and 46 new students were inducted for the course.
